Bachelors Degree in Engineering, 0-1 years experience

  or

Bachelors Degree in Chemistry

 

Responsibilities

o  Project Work

§ Perform in-house projects and testing without supervision

§ Review job orders requirements and application of engineering concepts to allow for the design and selection of appropriate test equipment for testing of basic to intermediate complexity, and of various sizes (bench to pilot scale). This should be completed with minimum supervision form laboratory manager or equivalent.

§ Assembly of test apparatus used for standard tests.

§ Correct operation of test equipment and application of engineering concepts to interpretation of data of basic to intermediate complexity.

§ Review job order, relevant MSDS and fully understand requirements in accordance with laboratory SOPs.

§ Determine availability of required equipment and materials, and prepare or order required materials.

§ Review timeline and discuss schedule conflicts or modifications with lab management (and project manager, when necessary).

§ Document preparation information appropriately (e.g. Test L/Ns) in notebook.

 

o  Execution of Job Order

· Design and assemble test apparatus used for standard tests.

· Properly operate, understand, and be able to troubleshoot all equipment/instrumentation that is necessary to support the testing.

· Perform job order requirements. Record actual procedure and all raw data directly into notebook. Immediately notify lab management of any test delays, problems, or deviations.

· Keep project manager updated on progress of testing and any pertinent observations or testing deviations.

· Analyze data.

 

 

o  Lab Project Completion

§ Disassemble and clean test equipment and work area.

§ Record results and observations in notebook.

§ Assure all calculations are performed correctly.

§ Create an accurate and timely lab report reflective of the job order requirements. Report hours spent on project.

§ Write lab reports in timely manner.

 

o  Lab Tasks

· To understand how the various lab systems, including purchasing, calibration, filter media inventory, stocking of supplies, chemicals, and sample log-in are maintained in lab. Responsibility for maintenance of such system may be assigned.

· To perform various tasks requested by lab management or project management that may or may not require additional training.

· To complete assigned training within timely period.

· To follow assigned work schedule and meet expected target dates.
