Environmental Coordinator – Des Moines, IA
This is a salaried-exempt position.

ADM’s Des Moines, Iowa Processing (Soybean, Vegetable Oil and Cogeneration) facility is seeking a qualified candidate with a minimum of 3 years working experience, preferably in a manufacturing or processing facility, to fill position of an Environmental Coordinator at the location. ADM is looking for a qualified individual to help the Des Moines location become an industry leader in environmental compliance and stewardship.

Position Description:
While working both in an office and industrial facility environment, the Environmental Coordinator will handle a broad range of activities and will be responsible for supervising the implementation of ADM’s Environmental Mission Statement and Principles. The Environmental Coordinator’s responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

--help the location stay in constant compliance with all ADM, federal, state and local government regulations as related to environmental regulations and requirements.
--update, develop and implement environmental programs
--provide training for employees and contractors (including new hire orientation, monthly and annual training) related to environmental programs
--preparation of all required reports and maintaining all necessary records/documentation related to environmental programs for the facility
--participate in and lead all internal and external environmental audits or environmental agency visits and prioritize, assign and track the audit findings for completion
--will participate in all environmental incident investigations
--get involved with other regulatory programs as required by the plant manager

The facility operates around the clock so the Environmental Coordinator will be on call 24/7 and may be called into work for after hour emergencies. The Environmental Coordinator will occasionally be required to work at times other than normal business (day shift) hours to accommodate plant needs; i.e. training. Other responsibilities will be reviewed during the on site interview.

Requirements:
Prefer college degree in Environmental Management or a related field. Food processing plant operation experience would be a plus. Interested candidates must have training and a working knowledge of environmental regulations, possess a hands-on/working knowledge of plant operations, and must be proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel spreadsheet development. Interested candidates should be self-motivated and must have excellent command of the following skills: leadership, team building, problem solving, organization, and both written and verbal communication.

Position requires walking or standing for extended periods and working in environments at varying temperatures.
