OVERVIEW
Responsible for compliance with applicable safety and environmental laws and regulations of the jurisdictions in which we do business and other requirements to which ArvinMeritor subscribes. Evaluate our Safety and Environmental Management Systems and adopt appropriate objectives and targets to achieve continual improvement.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
• The Environmental and Safety Manager has the responsibility and authority to;

Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process and quality system.

• Identify and record any product, process and quality system problems.

• Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.

• Verify the implementation of solutions.

• Control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected as defined by applicable procedures and/or by delegation of the area manufacturing manager.

• Set expectations for environmental compliance and to improve environmental conditions for the facility;

• Set expectations for safety standards and improve safety performance for the facility;

• Identify facility deficiencies, recommend solutions, and implement corrective measures to insure proper facility operation;

• Identify and address strengths and improvement opportunities of subordinates through open communication, training, and counseling or corrective action when required;

• Ensure subordinate involvement is maintained and oriented towards cost reduction and facility improvement;

• Interface with manufacturing and support personnel as required to improve the efficiency of the facility operation;


• Maintain utility and operating budgets within planned levels;

• Support the Plant Vision;

• Ensure compliance to the Standards of Business Conduct through familiarity with related policies and procedures, compliance with all environmental regulations, and compliance with all safety regulations.


QUALIFICATIONS
• BS degree in Engineering with five years experience in an industrial environment of related experience preferred.

• Knowledge of EPA Environmental and OSHA Regulations.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills required, with the demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.

• Demonstrated interpersonal skills in motivating, directing, listening, counseling, evaluating, and training peers and subordinates.
