Fermentation Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION: Fermentation Engineer sought by a leading developer of Biofuels derived from low-cost, abundant biomass for its Lafayette, LA area manufacturing operations.  Responsible for all the fermentation aspects/processes involved in the overall manufacturing process of producing an Alternative Fuel.  Job duties will include: Monitor Fermentation process through routine physico-chemical analysis of the Fermentation stock. Perform pilot fermentation of strains prior to introduction into the Plant by routine microbiological process monitoring of systems within the Plant. Develop strains and procedures that will improve current processes and product while maintaining strain integrity and product consistency. Provide microbiological expertise for development of fermentation process improvements. Conduct quality system audits.  Identify opportunities to improve Alternative Fuel product quality and yield. Assist and advise Operating Areas in regard to Fermentation, Raw Materials, Maturation, Processing, Testing and use of Quality Tools.This is a tremendous career opportunity to join an established company in an expansion, growth situation within the booming Alternative Fuels Industry. JOB REQUIREMENTS: BS Chemistry, Microbiology, Bio-Engineering or related field. Masters degree a plus. Minimum 4 years technical experience in a Distillery, Alternative Fuel or related manufacturing process Industry. Demonstrated knowledge of Microbiology, Fermentation in a production environment. Knowledge of Alternative Fuel or Distillery process operation and process equipment. Proven effective Interpersonal and Communication skills.
