General Manager (Carter Custom Millwork)

The Carter Custom Millwork, a subsidiary of the Carter Lumber Company specializing in the manufacturing of custom millwork is currently seeking an experienced General Manager to oversee facility operations.

Position Overview:
A Carter Custom Millwork General Manager is responsible for strategically planning and determining the vision, strategy and leadership which drives production of all areas of the millwork.  Hires, trains and develops staff throughout the facility to ensure that high standards of quality, delivery, customer satisfaction, and manufacturing capabilities are met.  Ensures performance and quality objectives are met while minimizing expenses.  Builds relationships with Carter Lumber retail stores and works with them to provide our customers with a superior end product.  A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position.

· Oversee all aspects of the Custom Mill including; the plant, customer service, office and sales departments

· Identify, plan and communicate key responsibilities and business practices to ensure smooth flow of operations, improve product quality and production efficiencies, reduce lead times and increase inventory turns

· Maintain the scheduling throughout the facility to ensure that production quotas are met

· Define, measure, analyze, improve and control all operational aspects and lead continuous improvement activities within the facility to deliver planned results

· Work with upper management to establish the strategy and implementation of millwork products to ensure high standards of quality, service and safety are met

· Hire, train and monitor employee performance; implement company training & development initiatives

· Continue to grow the positive reputation of Carter Lumber in the community

Requirements to join the Carter Lumber team:

· Previous management experience in a manufacturing environment

· High understanding of the production of millwork, doors and stairs

· Working knowledge of Weining  Moulders, pre-hung door machinery, stair routing machinery and general woodworking equipment

· Exceptional knowledge of manufacturing methods and process improvements; including understanding of throughput and Lean Manufacturing techniques

· Strong knowledge in scheduling and shipping methods

· Ability to maintain a budget by managing cost of sales, labor and inventory

· Ability to use strong judgment in analyzing, troubleshooting and evaluating problems

· Experience managing a diverse workforce

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
