Global Marketing Manager
Primary Function:
The Global Marketing Manager is responsible for all activities related to conceptualizing and implementing global market strategy and achieving marketing targets. Plan and execute both short and long-range marketing programs, targeted toward existing and new markets either personally or through subordinates. Responsible for the strategic direction concerning promotion and advertising.
Primary Duties:
- Responsible for hiring and directing the day-to-day activities of 25+ staff
- Responsible for a $13 – 15 million budget
- Develop the annual marketing plan and the strategies, tactics and resources necessary to achieve goals; present marketing reports to management.
- Design and implement global marketing strategy, lead all agency interface domestically and internationally, determine brand positioning and lead new product introduction and launch. This will include the integration of all e-marketing initiatives and management of Zippo websites to include our online sales initiatives.
- Provide leadership and/or support the design development, and implementation of product lines as well as pricing, positioning and placement
- Provide leadership, direction and management of the market research function.
- Create an institutional and system-wide marketing reporting function that can track, measure and analyze performance
- Ensure that all marketing communications are coordinated, support marketing plan objectives and are an effective expenditure and use of resources
- Develop and manage marketing operating budgets
- Plan and oversee advertising and promotion activities including print, online, electronic media and direct mail
- Develop and recommend product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share
- Ensure effective control of marketing results, and take corrective action to guarantee that achievement of marketing objectives falls within designed budgets
- Oversee and evaluate market research and adjust marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions while maintaining a constant corporate image throughout all product lines, promotional materials and events
- Represent company at trade association meetings to promote products
- Remain in constant compliance with Zippo’s moral and ethical values internationally
- Provide management direction, oversight and hold advertising and marketing agencies accountable.
Special Skills:
- 5 + years experience in related field/position
- Bachelors degree in Business/Marketing or related field
- MBA from accredited institution a plus
- Must have knowledge of business and management principals involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources as well as for time management.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
- Must be able to us judgment in decision-making while weighing the costs and benefits of potential actions.
- Must be dependable, innovative, able to take initiative and to maintain composure at all times.
- Must be a leader, team player and have superb organizational habits.
- Must be able to travel 20-25% of the time both domestically and internationally.
