Graphic Designer/Multimedia MarCom Specialist
based in Peabody, MA
Prepare impactful trade show booth programs and promotion-related activity that effectively represent the company's corporate image, products, and services to JEOL customers and prospects. Design and production responsibilities will include: display signage, promotional collateral, art manipulation/optimization, and multi-media materials. Assist in the development and deployment of promotional and informational campaigns. Essential Functions:
1. Receives work assignments from Marketing Manager based on current program/project needs and specialist's particular strengths and experience.
2. Meets/interacts with Sales, Marketing, and cross-functional teams to support current product lines and help formulate product communication project needs; or participates as a member of the sales and marketing team during official input sessions.
3. Reviews literature and relevant/previous marketing materials used in the assignment area, and gathers materials of competitive companies in the field.
4. Develops concepts/sketches/layouts of supporting graphics and consults with external resource representatives (i.e., exhibit production houses, printers, photographers, etc.) on the needs of the particular project. Presents recommendations (layout options, schedule, and budget) to marketing manager and/or product/sales team for review; makes revisions for final approvals.
5. Prepares multimedia presentations internally – as possible. Alternatively, arranges for the external development of similar-type presentations (FLASH, video, PPP, etc.). Prepares scripts/storyboards and recommends external production vendors. Oversees process to assure quality results in keeping with the parameters of the assignment (i.e., budget/due date).
6. Researches and recommends - as appropriate –“company gifts/giveaways” to leverage trade show theme and sales objectives.
7. Organizes and maintains records/notes about trade show activities (i.e., booth structures and promotional requirements, photo databases, associated activities) for review/analysis in order to recommend improvements for future show activities.
Additional Responsibilities:
1. May be referral person for questions on department communications materials (i.e., photos, multimedia presentations, display posters etc.)
2. If required, arranges for necessary presentation (visual/audio) aids for internal meetings. If required, provides recommendations for external meetings.
3. May develop and coordinate multimedia packages—brochures, video, FLASH, point-of-purchase displays—for particular assignments.
4. May be called on by Senior Management or other members of the company for various communication tasks (i.e., document scanning; PPP adjustments/updates, CD/DCD duplicate production).
Qualifications:
1. A Bachelor's degree in communications, graphic arts, advertising; or relevant work experience. Portfolio of relevant work helpful.
2. At least five years of solid graphic design-layout/production experience, preferably with scientific/industrial products company, preparing trade show related graphics and promotional display items. Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles used to produce technical plans, blueprints, drawings, models; agency experience also helpful.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts. Ideal candidate will be technically skilled, with hands-on experience and comfort using standard/popular design programs & graphic arts tools/formats for print and multimedia production including Adobe Creative Suite (i.e., Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Corel Draw, Quark, FLASH), Excel, XML/HTML. Experience/knowledge of web and e-design principles helpful.
4. Ability to visualize and create a total corporate trade show experience that will effectively enhance JEOL’s image. Tactics for consideration: booth graphic signage and all related booth materials, giveaways, and “showman-ship” ideas.
5. Able to understand logistical requirements and details related to trade show planning/scheduling/set-up and to design/produce booth graphics that work with a variety of trade show booth configurations and space requirements.
6. Dependable; desire to “pitch-in”. Able to handle a variety of assignments simultaneously and to exercise good judgment. Successful candidate will possess initiative, flexibility and ability to work both independently and as a member of an in-house team.
7. Able to work independently, adapt to a variety of responsibilities, to creatively solve problems, and effectively with deadlines and schedules; able to prioritize projects and self-monitor progress.
8. Ability to leverage existing concepts/materials.
9. Ability to learn new software and processes; suggest optional creative/production approaches for individual projects; may include software and peripheral upgrade recommendations.
10. Familiarity with standard business operating procedures and systems (i.e., marketing strategy, tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems).
11. Ability to work with multiple external vendors and with a variety of international cultures.
12. Ability to attend specified trade events for research purposes and to assist as needed.
