HUMAN RESOURCES Leader – Los Angeles County



 

Global industry leader is seeking a Human Resources Leader to provide HR strategy and leadership for two plants producing $100mm in business with 650 employees across two states.  Initial emphasis will be on acquisition integration, 2008 union negotiations, and union avoidance for Washington State site.  This person will serve as the top HR person for both sites and provide direction across the broad spectrum of HR including: Talent Management, Organizational Capability, Employee Engagement, Performance Management and Learning.

RESPONSIBILITIES;Develop and deploy proactive and business-focused HR solutions to ensure HR alignmentPartner with senior leadership, reporting to the GM for both plants and a remotely based HR DirectorDevelop and execute effective and proactive employee relations programs.Lead 2008 negotiations for the CA site and manage ongoing labor relations strategy.Champion robust union avoidance plans including positive work practices for site in Washington stateDefine and drive compensation initiatives to attract and retain the best employees in the industryDevelop robust talent acquisition channels, ensuring a high caliber, diverse talent poolDesign and implement key learning initiatives to develop talent and succession planning pipelinesDrive performance management to ensure employee engagement and that performance expectations are established, communicated and updatedBalance business needs/objectives with employee advocacyInvestigate and respond to internal complaints of discrimination/harassment, including interviewing witnesses and preparing necessary documentation.Demonstrate a thorough understanding of business unit strategies and objectives, the competitive landscape, current and potential future business challenges. Implement solutions to meet business needs.Manage direct staff of twoResponsible for departmental cost planning & budgeting.Ability to pick up responsibility for additional locations in the short term

 

Qualifications:Bachelor's degree required7-10 years of progressive HR experience as a strategic business partner; experience in manufacturing environment an essential requirementQualified candidates must have experience actively participating in union negotiations Strong influencing skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skillsProven HR generalist skills including employee relations and employment law, union avoidance, compensation, performance management, recruitment, and training and developmentAbility to deliver HR programs which effectively address business issuesProven coaching and conflict resolution skills Successful track record of delivering superior client service Ability to work collaboratively with team members in a matrixed environmentExperience with hourly compensation design and CA employment laws a plus
