SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF THIS POSITION:
Performs safety and health activities in the plant to evaluate and control environmental hazards by performing the following duties. Facilitation of the business’ safety strategy, including ensuring compliance with all relevant OSHA standards, realizing leading safety teams, and lending expertise to all safety-related issues within the operation. The Safety & Health Coordinator will manage the design and implementation of safety and health programs to raise employee awareness of risks; to reduce, avoid, and protect employees from hazards; and to enhance health. Ensure safety and environmental compliance with corporate policies and procedures, and state and federal laws and regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Foster and maintain a proactive approach to safety and the promotion of a people-centered safety work culture. Maintain daily contact with the workforce regarding safety issues and related topics. Develop and lead safety communications at the facility.
· Conduct regular safety inspections. Coordinate, document and organize required safety training. Develop a training plan with plant management to accomplish objectives. Conduct safety orientation classes for all new employees. Help anticipate key future development needs and ongoing classes for current employees and implement such plans
· Facilitate Safety/Ergonomics team initiatives. Audit site compliance with ES&H regulations and work with management to develop and implement improvements.
· Prepare state federal and Lewcott ES&H reports with support from Tighe & Bond Consultants
· Administrate all ES&H documentation such as MSDS, submitted reports and analytical documentation.
· Manage hazardous waste affairs such as storage, inspection and disposal.
· Develop and maintain emergency plans.
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimal Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 5+ years experience in safety management in a manufacturing environment preferred. Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws, including OSHA regulations is required. Familiarity with Behavior Based Safety programs highly beneficial. This individual must be passionate about safety, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and be self-motivated and team oriented.Basic medical knowledge is required, in conjunction with instructor certification in CPR, First Aid and Bloodbourne Pathogens. Instructor Forktruck certification preferred Minimum of 5+ years of Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety experience (preferably in a manufacturing environment) including managing Safety, Worker’s Compensation, OSHA, DOT, HIPAA, FMLA, and ADA regulations, along with experience with applicable state and federal forms filing and associated requirements Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as skills in decision-making, problem solving and time management. Ability to create and provide effective training as well as communicate with all levels of the organization Organizational skills and attention to detail are essential Proactive, motivated and approachable Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications, preferably MSWord and Excel Ability to conduct shop and office tours relative to safety inspections and light duty job assignments. Occasional travel may be required.Proven ability to work independently, such as prioritizing development process and project management. Excellent project management skills and knowledge of applicable tools

Errors in creation, treatment or application of policy could be serious to the employee and the company. Has regular access to highly confidential data Is passionate towards workplace safety and is willing to do whatever it takes (ie. pursuing additional training or certifications as needed, occasional on-call availability, conducting employee training for 3,2,2 day and night shifts).
