This Health and Safety trainee position is a one-year assignment at PPG’s Louisville’s paint manufacturing facility. The objective of the training period is to prepare the candidate for work as part of PPG’s Environmental, Health and Safety team. After successful completion of the trainee period, the incumbent will be assigned to a PPG location which could include any facility serving PPG’s major business units including Coatings, Chemicals, Performance Glazings and Fiber Glass manufacturing facilities.

Louisville is the site of two PPG manufacturing facilities that produce Olympic Stains and various house paints, including the Porter brand. There are also two PPG distribution centers (warehouses) in the Louisville area. In addition, the headquarters of PPG ‘s 440+ paint stores operation is in Louisville. Plant responsibilities could include industrial hygiene sampling, H&S program implementation, incident investigations, ergonomic assessments, fire protection and emergency response reviews, etc. This position would also be expected to assist with H&S program development at numerous field locations (i.e., the stores) and the incumbent would have an opportunity to travel to other PPG manufacturing locations.

To support the work experience, the incumbent will be expected to participate and successfully complete a number of specific training courses (e.g., Environmental Engineering Control, Environmental Regulation, Spill Prevention and Control, Root Cause Analysis, etc.).


Candidates should have demonstrated leadership skills and be highly self-motivated individuals. Students must have a GPA of at least 2.8 and be authorized to work permanently in the United States. Candidate must be willing to relocate after initial training period.
