CANDIDATE WILL RESPONSIBLE FOR PREVENTTIVE MAINTENANCE, LUBRICATION OF PLANT MACHINERY &MINOR MAINTENANCE DUTIES ON PRODUCTION LINES.

Job Title: Maintenance Utility PersonDepartment: MaintenanceReports to: Maintenance Manager/Lead Mechanic
SUMMARYThe Maintenance Utility Person, under the direction of the Maintenance Manager or Lead Mechanic, routinely maintains the facilities’ pump and storage facilities, all other related equipment and performs all other work as may be assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. I. MANUFACTURING/MAINTENANCE;Maintains and operates fluid pumping systems, storage and distribution systems on manufacturing lines. Maintains oil levels on manufacturing lines and performs lubrication on maintenance on machinery and keeps records for future reference. Assists the Maintenance department when repairing equipment by performing detailed job tasks. Paints, cleans and organizes machinery, supplies and the Maintenance Shop area. May work as a plumber’s helper in assembling, installing and repairing pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, lubrication systems and sewer systems; and in opening clogged drains. May operate hand and power tools. Will maintain tools and machinery in good condition and use all tools carefully and as instructed. Must be available to work overtime, on call and weekends as well as work during plant shutdowns.
II. OPERATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS;Knowledgeable concerning mechanical principles and lubrication practices. Has initiative and ability to work effectively with little direction. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and management staff. Self motivated.
III. HEALTH AND SAFETY;Adheres to safety policies and procedures in compliance with AEP’s guidelines. Visually inspects production area for tripping hazards, equipment safeguards, employee’s safety, and adherence to policies and maintains compliance with OSHA company housekeeping rules.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh School diploma or equivalent. Requires some mechanical ability.
V. LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, write, understand and communicate in English. Able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
VI. MATHEMATICAL SKILLSBasic math skills are required.
VII. PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee must be able to keep up with moderate speed production machines. Works with high temperature equipment and moving equipment of varying speeds from moderate to high speed machinery. Manual dexterity required with exposure to arm, wrist and back fatigue. The employee continuously uses their arms, hands and fingers to handle, grasp, hold, grip and squeeze. The employee routinely bends, kneels, squats, pulls and drags, climbs/descends stairs into/from the tower areas 50 to 65 feet in the air. The employee may lift up to 65 lbs. The employee stands approximately 8 hours (on a 8 hr. shift) or 12 hours (on a 12 hr. shift) and routinely walks to and from the production area consulting with maintenance and production staff and working where needed. The employee routinely steps up 1 ½ feet and pulls themselves into the seat of a forklift. Employee will drive forklift to move supplies in the plant. High mental and visual effort required.
VIII. WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions on this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly exposed to moving mechanical parts and live electrical components. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to very loud. An essential part of this position is to work in a teamwork environment. The employee is continuously exposed to temperature variances; extreme heat during the Spring and Summer and cold temperatures during the Winter.
