Imaging Scientist

A high tech company in the Vista area that specializes in cargo security and logistics is looking for an Imaging Scientist.

This individual will be responsible for applied research and engineering in the development of products in the security and transportation sector. The products rely on OCR capabilities to improve the logistical benefits. Duties will include:Carrying out laboratory test projects; product prototype assembly and testing; laboratory management activities; data collection and analysis; field testing; modeling and simulation; and documentation.Preparing research and experimental plans based on directed goals and objectives.Interacting with commercial vendors.Supporting development and testing of new COTS items to incorporate into the finished product.Designing and supporting fabrication and assembly of specialized components and apparatus.Working closely with other departments to facilitate transition of technology from the research stage to full production.To be considered for this position, Candidates must have the following qualifications:Masters degree from an accredited college/university in a field related to the physical sciences such as computer vision. PhD preferred.Demonstrated capability in developing image processing techniques such as object recognition, object detection, image data manipulation, Neural Nets, OCR algorithms, and implement them in code.Knowledge and experience developing and deploying OCR engines preferred.Experience in a manufacturing or product development environment desired.Self-directed and the ability to manage multiple projects with changing priorities.Strong communication and people skills.Flexibility in project assignments and technologies.The ability to travel 10-25% of the time.Length of Assignment: Indefinite
