Job Overview:
Hampton Lumber is currently searching for a Electrical Controls Engineer with experience in lumber processing machinery.
Responsible for design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and control systems. Performs engineering design evaluations. Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or a minimum of 4-8 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. Possess the ability to work with existing operations, managers, is team oriented, as well as scheduling and implementation of projects with and in operating areas to minimize plant and/or equipment down time. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
The person selected for this postion will service primarily our Washington mills located in the Cowlitz area and will travel to Oregon and Canada, as well as our other Washington sites.
Key Responsibilities:Provides support to the Project Manager dealing with the schedule, scope, budget, design engineering, planning, and coordination of a project. PLC programmer fluent with multiple software systems which include: RsLogix for PLC-5, 500, Control Logix, RSView, Excel, Word and AutoCad. Also proficient in Visual Basic. Has the ability to set up Allen Bradley Drives and integrate them into the controls system Prepare bid packages Provides on-site procedures to ensure safe and efficient work methods are used Provides cost analysis of alternatives to determine cost effective installation practices Resolve a variety of complex problems (i.e. conflicting design requirements, suitability of materials and equipment, construction costs vs. project budget) Plans and coordinates crew and equipment resources to ensure installations are timely and within budget Responds to a variety of inquiries/concerns from company personnel Reviews and approves construction drawings Coordinates with office and field personnel to optimize the use of resources Develops new construction techniques and procedures. Evaluates new equipment Knowledge and application of NEC code and OSHA Regulations and Building Codes Ability to quickly learn and apply the latest technologiesAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects to meet production schedule/project requirementsAbility to resolve problems and follow through with all concerned partiesCapable of independently developing complex machine or machine system controls including hardware layouts and specifications, operational descriptions and specifications and programming to satisfy these specifications, testing and implementation (start-up), and including oversight of other team members and/or vendors providing the same.
