Information Developer (Technical/Training Writer)

To take advantage of our rapid expansion and growth, we are seeking an experienced Information Developer (Technical/Training Writer) to manage the development, production, and localization of Cold Jet’s technical documentation and training. Because this is a new role at Cold Jet, the successful candidate will lay the groundwork for future information development operations, designing methods and establishing standards for information development projects, and creating, building and guiding cross-functional teams.

 

The Information Developer is responsible for developing, testing, managing and maintaining high quality consistent technical communications in the form of operator manuals, product/parts catalogs, training presentations/scripts, and classroom and online courseware materials.  Further, this person is responsible for coordinating and ensuring timely and up to date technical information across varied departmental and international teams.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

· Bachelors degree in Technical Communications or equivalent work experience

· 5+ years experience developing Technical Communications in a corporate environment

· 2+ years experience as lead writer/project lead in a development team environment

· Experience in courseware development or Adult Education

· Experience in self paced, online or multimedia training development

· Project Management, and project planning experience

· Expertise in developing Technical Communications: content, graphics and layout/interface (samples required)

· Expertise in writing for a global audience (i.e. writing for translation and globalization)

· Experience in training development, learning objectives, assessment

· Experience with usability testing and customer needs analysis

· Familiarity with minimalism writing methodology

· Exposure to competency/certification programs

· Experience with online training tools and SCORM compliance is a plus

· Familiarity with XML, HTML, Flash, video technologies is a plus

· Able to develop, write and test to ensure successful information release

· Able to lead and manage projects accurately and independently
