Ink Developer P.H.D.

1.  SUMMARY/BASIC PURPOSE:

The Ink Developer participates in and contributes to most aspects of ink development and scale-up and will report to the ink development team leader.  This position involves laboratory work, interaction with manufacturing, and occasional interaction with customers and suppliers.

 

2. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Member of the ink development team for new VUTEk printers.  Participates in and contributes to most aspects of ink development.  Makes ink formulations and performs all laboratory testing, including adhesion, hardness, weathering, and stability.  Develops new tests as needed.  Assists in commercial scale-up of inks, helps to set specifications, and teaches any new test methods to manufacturing personnel.  Uses and maintains commercial printer as a research tool.  Must be able to respond to problems quickly and efficiently. 


3.  JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience 

M.S. or Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or related field.  Basic understanding of polymer chemistry and FTIR a plus.
Any experience level will be considered. 

 

Knowledge/Competencies/Skills 

Excellent laboratory skills are required.  Must be able to work both independently and in teams.  Energetic, creative thinker.  Must be able to apply learned skills to a variety of applications and extrapolate theory to real world situations.  Must be able to understand both research and manufacturing environments.  Must be able to keep a proper laboratory notebook.
