Innovation Process Manager

General Summary The successful individual in this position leads multiple and complex projects to implement processes and procedures that enhance product quality, reduce cost, increase plant efficiency and facilitate technology transfer. The position identifies and defines the technical nature and significance of programs. Works closely with product development associates and plant personnel to develop, test and implement processes to commercialize new soup, sauce, beverage and entrée type of products. Leads the process scale to production level. Leads the design and development of experimental plans for feasibility tests, manufacture of consumer and customer products, plant trial runs, line commissioning and audits. Contributes to the development of Operating Plans. Manages less experienced process engineers. Effectively communicates at multiple levels within the organization and works well on cross-functional teams. Principal Accountabilities 30% - Lead multiple complex engineering projects/investigations. Lead feasibility studies and implement new/improved process/packages. Drive the development of innovative processes/technologies and commercialization of new business initiatives. Develop innovative approaches for testing and problem resolution. Determine appropriate design application. 25% - Integrate process expertise & knowledge into early product development process. Build cohesive relationship as liaison between Product Development, Plant operations and Supply Chain during the commercialization process. Provide process engineering knowledge to implement efficient and effective technology transfer between R&D and the plants. 20% - Perform robust situation assessments. Lead the analysis of trend data to ensure that manufacturing systems will reliably deliver high quality product within specification and cost. Guide and assess the documentation of test results & conclusions, process parameters, critical control points and specifications. 15% - Contribute in the development of engineering drawings, automated process sequence descriptions and capital installation from process prospective and develop testing plan to advance the development of these processes. Commission / validate & start up of new processes / equipment. 10% - Manage performance and ensure the development staff Job Complexity Ability to be a thought leader in new food processing systems and able to develop and assess complex initiatives. Ability to adapt existing technologies to deliver innovation initiatives. Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively with cross functional R&D, Supply Chain, Business, Sales and Manufacturing Strong skills to problem solve and manage ambiguity. Skills to network with external suppliers and manufacturers to bring in solution and technologies and adapt them for the CSC systems. Ability to mange and prioritize projects and programs of high complexity and manage multiple timelines Ability to present to Business and Customers complex technical information in an effective way. Knowledge of manufacturing systems and implications of material changes. Ability to work independently as well as part of a cross-functional team. Ability to manage, train and develop direct reports. Job Specifications 5-7 years experience in the food industry or equivalent experience. Bachelors Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Food Engineering. MS in above engineering disciplines or Food Science preferred. Has a depth of technical expertise on processes and production equipment. Knowledge of development from concept to commercialization. Demonstrated understanding of the relationship between product, process and package. Strong written, verbal, computer and presentation skills. 30% global travel. Job environment includes office and manufacturing facilities such as thermal, refrigerated and frozen manufacturing environments.
