Position Description:

Aesculap Inc., founded in Germany in 1867 and in operation in the U.S. since 1977, is the world’s largest supplier of surgical instruments. We have an opening in the Technical Services Department due to company growth at our St. Louis, MO location.SURGICAL INSTRUMENT REPAIR TECHNICIAN IIIResponsibilities: Accurate and timely repairs of precision surgical instruments for various hospital locations. This includes polishing, grinding, and sharpening surgical hand held instruments. Refurbishing instruments as needed.SPECIFIC DUTIES: Routinely repairs all surgical instruments as defined in Tech III job description, including micro instruments, mechanical, laparoscopic, rongeurs, and punches. Provides back up to QA Inspection Technician as required. Assists on-site as assigned. Completes special projects as assigned. Equipment Used: Hand tools, bead blast cabinet, grinding, polishing and buffing wheels, ultrasonic cleaner, gold-plating machine, lathe, drill press.Requirements: Requires a High School Diploma and previous experience with machining or handling of delicate metal instruments is desirable. Completion of Advanced Repair Training Program preferred. Requires 4+ years apprenticeship/experience in metallurgy and/or in a metal production environment. Requires in-depth understanding and application of principles and skills to repair a wide range of complex surgical instruments. Develops solutions to problems of intermediate scope. Requires an intermediate turn around time on all instruments. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and communicate clearly. Occasional overtime and changes in shift scheduling are required.
