LED Packaging Scientist
LED Packaging Scientist
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
As a member of the Cree R&D team, the LED packaging Scientist will support Cree leadership in a wide variety of optoelectronic products including chips and packages. This will require a good understanding of chip design and the interaction of the chip with the package. The successful LED Packaging Scientist will not only consistently deliver demonstrations of improved capability, but follow-through on the demonstrations with designs and processes capable of good reliability, high yield, manufacturability and low cost in a manufacturing environment.
The packaging scientist will interact with a variety of other Cree teams including the following: epitaxial growth, chip fabrication, applications engineering, solid state lighting, mechanical design, and purchasing. Further, the successful candidate will interact extensively with external vendors and customers. Some travel, both domestic and overseas, will be required.
This individual will be responsible for a diverse mixture of activities and will have the ability to focus intensely on one effort without neglecting the rest. To accomplish the goals, a very strong work ethic is required. For example, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning the activities of an R&D group that operates 24X7. This will require weekend work and availability at any time for problem solving.
