Lead Process Engineer

Provides technical and project management expertise relating to projects and process improvement projects for Solo’s new and/or existing Plastic Thermoformed, Cutlery, Straw and/or Paper products. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Works within the manufacturing plants as required to develop process engineering documentation systems and auditing procedures.  Areas of expertise include: Applicable materials & equipment knowledge, FMEA’s, Process capability studies, Gage R&R’s, Root cause analysis and DOE’s. 2. Coordinates process improvement teams with plant personnel for cost savings opportunities. This position is the subject matter expert for the company in their respective field (thermoforming, injection molding or paper conversion). They will develop solutions to complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation. 3. Provides detailed technical guidance in project assessment and training to plant machine operators. Develops and analyzes technical data as assigned or required. Develops and documents standard training practices. 4. Acts as an internal liaison to our Project Management Department as a technical expert. The cross-functional team includes such departments as; Product Design, Tooling Engineering, Manufacturing, Automation Engineering, Plant Engineering, Procurement, and Marketing. 5. Acts as a liaison to our Product Development Department to evaluate, recommend, and implement equipment modification/upgrades as well as new technologies to keep manufacturing processes current. 6. Maintains in-depth relationships with current and potential vendors to provide technical guidance in new equipment selection for plant troubleshooting and new projects.     Job Requirements: BS degree in Engineering or related technical field.  Continuing education as required to stay abreast of new developments area of expertise.  At least 8 years experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally with multiple plant responsibility.  Excellent communication skills required.  Proficient in Microsoft Office.  Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under minimal supervision.  Willingness to travel as needed.
