LOUD Technologies (formerly Mackie Designs, EAW, etc.) is searching for an experienced Lead Software Engineer to join our fabulous engineering team in Whitinsville, MA. This position is primarily responsible for designing, developing and maintaining desktop and networked applications used primarily for design, configuration measurements/analysis, and real-time control of professional sound systems and components. This is a supervisory position that will require giving junior staff guidance, direction and day-to-day management. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Engineering.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Participate in the analysis, design, programming and modification(s) of computer programs for software products and/or in-house development tools
o Design, develop and implement algorithms and software applications for use in support of loudspeaker and electronic products, both by end users and for use in product development and manufacturing
o Share the responsibility for budget and personnel decisions within the software group
o Maintain and extend existing software tools
o Conduct functional and reliability testing of software applications
o Engage in C++ coding
o Supervise a small group of software engineers
o Overcome programming/development challenges
o Move projects through development, release and maintenance cycles
o Provide realistic status/progress reports, estimates and projections
o May develop SDK’s or portions thereof and create and/or update any internal or external documentation of source code libraries and API’s as applicable
o Perform domain analysis, requirements gathering, technology assessment and other research related to development of algorithms applications and application features
o Determine procedures and documentation needed for installation and maintenance of software applications
o May contribute to the design of products such as digital signal processors and powered loudspeakers
o Involvement in field testing and troubleshooting software-based products
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Must have BSEE or BSCS (4-year degree) or equivalent
o 5+ years post-graduate work experience as a software engineer or equivalent is REQUIRED
o Extensive knowledge of best practices and procedures for commonly used programming concepts, particularly in C++ programming language
o A solid background in software engineering including analysis, design, implementation and verification of software applications
o Excellent C/C++ programming skills
o Proficiency in cross-platform development, networked applications and real-time communication with remote devices and systems
o Some basic knowledge of digital signal processing, audio and electrical engineering concepts preferred
o Ability to work productively in a self-directed manner is required
o Proficiency in common office software, relevant Integrated Development Environments, third-party development frameworks and libraries, and other development tools
o Music industry exposure gained through school, past work history or personal performance is desirable
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills
o Highly motivated self-starter with a positive attitude and exceptional organizational skills
