Lean Coordinator

Steel Industries Inc., located in Redford, MI. currently has a day position open for a Lean Coordinator.  This position is responsible for leading and implementing Continuous Improvement and Lean activity throughout the entire business. Specific areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:Reporting directly to the Director of Technical Support Services with dotted line responsibility to senior leadership, provide strong “hands-on� development and implementation of Lean and Continuous Improvement programsIdentify opportunities for significant improvement and facilitate Lean/Kaizen eventsRecommend measures to improve productivity and product qualityDevelop and provide Lean and improvement focused trainingAnalyze critical business processes and develop improvement plansWith the senior leadership team, define improvement objectives and develop a successful implementation strategyDevelop and drive key operational indicators, developing strategies for ongoing and rapid improvementProvide Lean technical support to all functions of the businessLeverage Lean and Continuous Improvement tools to achieve rapid and significant improvementAct as a Champion for Change… Lead, facilitate, and manage continuous improvement methods across the entire organization

Candidate must have a thorough understanding of Lean Manufacturing strategies, including but not limited to Kaizen, Kanban, Pull, 5S, Value Stream Mapping and Visual Factory.  A hands-on background in Continuous Improvement with demonstrated leadership ability.  Strong interpersonal skills, including people management and problem-solving. Will also be hhighly analytical, with a significant background in Lean/Six-Sigma improvement tools and have sstrong computer skills.

Candidates must have a minimum of five (5) years of successful experience developing and implementing significant and measurable Lean improvements.  Broad experience in production and non-production Lean implementation. 

 

BS degree in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or similar discipline is required and a Six Sigma and/or Lean certification a significant plus.
