We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Training department as a Learning Manager in our Irving, TX, Fulfillment Center. ***THE IDEAL CANDIDATE*** Advanced degree from a top tier graduate school. Resume that shows steady progression in Training/Learning Management for the last 5-10 years Ability to manage and drive home projects within tight deadlines. 5-10 years experience in Fortune 500 companies that adhere to a high standards that equals Amazon.com and mentors their brightest employees to accept greater challenges. Ambitious. Wants to join an Operations team as a Learning Manager and grow with the company. The Learning Manager is an active member of the Operations Learning team, driving and supporting cross-group initiatives. Successful candidates will have a true hands-on approach, as well as strong knowledge of warehousing/manufacturing training, instructional design and analytical thinking. In addition, effective presentation, and persuasion skills are a must. The Learning Manager will: Actively manage a team of training specialists including their deployment, development and productivity. Ensure that the work of the team and individuals is continually aligned to meet internal customer’s needs. Act as a proactive and productive liaison/partner with the Operations Learning Department in Seattle. This role will be responsible for traveling to all assigned FC’s to evaluate and ensure all training programs are in compliance (travel will be up to 40%). Employee Development Foster the development and growth of Amazon.com employees (i.e., mentoring, teaching, etc.). Create and implement training plans for managers, trainers and others (i.e., participating in and conducting needs analysis, skills development classes, cross-training, etc.) Facilitate orientation and training classes; communicate policies and procedures to managers and new employees as needed. Ensure that the Learning Department creates/updates accurate and useful information on job tasks, SOPs and training aids/visuals. Actively seek, clarify and understand information from Operations and Area Managers that leads to an understanding and ownership of FC performance and goals. Fully understand workflow and daily production goals. React quickly and efficiently to production and scheduling conflicts. Ensure and drive consistency across all departments and sites. Execution/Analysis Ensure that training is tracked and recorded, including progress and skill sets. Partner with Ops Learning on grant proposals, implementation, tracking and relationship. Create and manage training content and documentation. Administers methods for gathering and tracking training metrics. Analyze and understand data to suggest improvements for training and operations. Track and communicate Learning Department goals, assignments and progress. Safety Fully understanding the safety procedures for the Fulfillment Center as a whole. Ongoing responsibility to ensure that the Fulfillment Center is operating safely and taking immediate action to correct where necessary. Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed. Minimum of a Bachelor's degree, advanced degree strongly preferred. Prefer experience working with hourly employees, as well as exempt personnel. 5 or more years of related experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment. Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy. Desire to thrive in a dynamic, growing environment. Demonstrated ability to communicate to peers, hourly associates, and senior management regarding learning/training information. Ability to deliver tough messages and coach for improved performance. Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies based on broader organization goals. Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability. Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
