Logistics Clerk w/ great MS Access Skills Wanted!!!

Our client is looking for a Logistics Clerk with great Access skills to join their growing company in their Headquarters in Dallas.  Great opportunity for growth, and really good benefits as well! LOGISTICS CLERKJOB DESCRIPTION Reports to:Director of LogisticsJob Description:Review daily rail and motor carrier activity and identify areas for improvement to keep costs at minimum levels.  Develop, in conjunction with all departments, Request for Proposals (RFP’s) for each plant that simplify and reduce pricing while maximizing customer satisfaction.  Establish and maintain measurements of carrier services that improve deliverables to our customers.  Monitor third party payables activity to ensure carriers are paid properly.  Renew carrier agreements as needed.  File agreements and rates as well as track expiration dates.   SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:  Maintain and develop reports using Access database. Track all carrier rates (rail and truck) and keep a history of each. File all carrier agreements and rates. Keep a list of current carriers and their contacts. Provide reports on carrier negotiations that show savings or increases. Monitor carrier websites for changes in carrier information. Develop reports to measure cost of delivery to customer. Track shipments using carrier websites and their QUALCOMM software. With the help of Director develop RFP’S for each plant and reload. Review in-house tendering software and rail tracking software to find ways to enhance its’ present use. Monitor third party payables to carriers to be assured carriers are paid properly and on time. Participate in activity that provides improvement in payables to carriers. Advise Director on problems with payment to carriers. Assist in updating daily, weekly and monthly reports on Logistics activity throughout the company. Backup all other members of the department when necessary. Other duties, as assigned.  JOB QUALIFICATIONS:  Two years of college, preferably with area of concentration in logistics or business. Two to four years of logistics or general office experience. Self starter and innovative. Above average Microsoft Word and Excel skills.  Intermediate Access and PowerPoint skills. Knowledge of Logistics terms.Ability to work with a team to accomplish tasks.
