Job Summary The logistics manager is responsible for leading, managing and controlling logistics operations including but not limited to the receiving, storage, and loading of raw materials, finished goods, dunnage, and other material required to support the business. The logistics manager develops and maintains transportation and distribution procedures to maximize delivery efficiency. Responsibilities 1. Ensure trucks/ trailers are efficiently and accurately loaded/unloaded to support the efficient movement of goods and materials to their destinations to fulfill commitment to our customers and support sales objectives. 2. Transportation Management of inbound and outbound transport modes, as they relate to deliveries and/or shipments. ¿Selects appropriate delivery methods to minimize delivery costs and maximize customer satisfaction¿ Coordination with site personnel for inbound and outbound transport modes and coordination with corporate and 3rd parties entities for scheduling transport modes. ¿ Develop relationships with carriers and other customer vendors to execute service and savings agreements for the customer. Identify and resolve customer/carrier/vendor issues regarding daily transactional items.3. Promote and lead best in class safety and housekeeping practices. Perform all required site duties in a safe and efficient manner with focus on material handling safety. 4. Manage and control full good inventory to keep shrink and customer service levels within standards and support control requirements. Inventory all materials in accordance with guidelines for a large and complex logistics facility. Coordinate inventory with reporting of actual physical site full good inventories to key personnel, through on site information systems and identification of variances of the physical inventories to appropriate personnel5. Lead, attract, retain, and develop effective personnel to ensure an efficient, motivated, and skilled workforce. Coach and mentor associates to achieve goals as outlined by the customer. Promote and maintain team effectiveness and morale as demonstrated by positive actions, attitudes and judgment.6. Manage material handling equipment, contracts, training and maintenance.7. Work Cross-functional with all departments to ensure quality and maximize productivity8. Analyze and implement improvements to current internal systems and processes. Analyze and recommend improvements to current external systems and processes. 9. Maintain spending within budget guidelines to support overall financial targets and responsibly employ company resources10. Integrate Quality Management System into operations functions 11. Understand and implement specific customer requirements to include internal reporting and specific location metrics. Analyze the financial impact of changes in transport mode, equipment, carrier, sourcing, parts, packaging, volume and/or product mix.12. Assist the site management team with identification of opportunities to add value through logistics management activities. Provide recommendations necessary for margin enhancement opportunities. Qualifications ¿ BS/BA degree in Logistics, transportation, Business, or related field required. ¿ 7 years experience in supply chain, logistics, and /or distribution leadership with progressive experience in managing, leading & developing people. ¿ Experience in managing material handler equipment and associates.¿ Experience in transportation software modules is preferred.¿ Must have excellent safety and quality leadership record¿ Experience in leading multi-site facilities is preferred. ¿ Must have good PC skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel is required. Experience and Familiarity working with an ERP system (SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle, etc). JD Edwards experience is a plus.¿ Must understand integrated production, supply chain and logistic concepts and principle.¿ Thorough knowledge of production planning, transportation, inventory shipping, contract orders, product forecasting, replenishment. and other functions that would affect the customers. ¿ Should have Extensive knowledge of Industrial Systems and Warehouse Logistics, Time Study principals and space management.¿ Strong analytical, leadership, team-building, and project management skills required ¿ Must be Detail Oriented with excellent planning and organizational skills ¿ Possesses excellent problem solving skills¿ Strong business math skills¿ Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to positively manage conflict.¿ Proven peer leadership skills to address issues and influence change¿ Strong written and verbal communication skills¿ Must have skills and competencies in developing, planning, delegating, process management, quality & resource management, and managerial courage¿ Must be self-motivated, positive, have a high degree of integrity, dependability & participate as a team member to achieve common goals with sense of urgency.¿ Must be able to meeting customer requirements in a fast paced work environment. ¿ Possesses the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and cross-functionally.
