MANFACTURING ENGINEER

Job Purpose:

Develop and improve manufacturing and other in-house processes related to quality, productivity, and work flow layout with the objective of reducing costs and maximizing customer satisfaction. 

Duties:

* Evaluates manufacturing processes and other support functions to reduce costs and improve productivity. Applies knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.

* Determine optimum manufacturing processes and raw material usage by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors and soliciting observations from operators.

* Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.

* Support quality of new and existing products by designing testing methods for finished products and establishing standards for products to conform to. 

* Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules, and estimating future requirements.

*  Achieves manufacturing engineering operational objectives by contributing manufacturing engineering information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining manufacturing engineering system improvements; implementing change.

* Develops strategic manufacturing operations plan by evaluating marketing and product objectives; calculating equipment, process, and labor capacity and requirements; determining tooling and maintenance objectives and requirements; developing layouts; establishing priorities.

* Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations and codes.

* Provides manufacturing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing manufacturing engineering data and trends.
