Mechanical Design Engineer - Full-Time Position

Reports to: Electronics Business Unit Leader

Job Description

 

As the Mechanical Design Engineer your duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

 

· Create mechanical concept designs, design layouts and drawings for use in prototype and qualification / validation of productsReview/ interpret project specifications to ascertain test specifications, procedures and objectivesCreate/ Maintain/ Update engineering change ordersDevelop Corrective and Preventative Actions for product improvementsBuild/ Assemble prototypes of new products and product revisions to validate functionality and manufacturability of the components and assembliesReview new and revised product drawings and BOM for accuracy and completeness prior to product releasesAnalyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives.

 

As part of the Team, you will be responsible for design and supporting a wide array of test and measurement equipment. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated leader and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, creative and ‘customer-centric’ environment.

 

Requirements:

The qualified candidate will have the following skills:

 BS in Mechanical Engineering (ME) and at least 10+ years of experience requiredKnowledge using 2D AutoCAD and 3D SolidWorks Design Modeling softwareCan show an exceptional engineering aptitude coupled with a practical design senseHands-on experience in the photonics industry, laser or physics lab requiredHands-on experience prototyping and manufacturing support requiredTool and fixture making experience a plusMachine shop CNC Milling and Turning experience requiredAble to work independently or with a team in an efficient mannerStrong sense of ownershipStrong written and verbal communication skills.
