Machining Supervisor (First Shift, Manufacturing, Job Shop) We are searching the Houston area for an experienced machining supervisor to lead the first shift of a new facility’s machining activities. The company has done machining at the facility for many years, but as a small support department. They are now bringing it in-house and have a large new expansion that needs machining staff, and a leader.  The Machining Supervisor will set the tone and standard for the team. This is a job shop, and the pieces that come in are made from various types of metals, and are very large. The work is different every day, and challenging. The position requires a thorough understanding of machining techniques for large pieces. It also requires good people skills to develop a team that can ensure quality standards.  DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Interpret and provide guidance to machining employees on specifications, blueprints and job orders and assign responsibilities as necessary.· Establish and adjust processes and procedures to meet quality standards and production schedules.· Communicate daily with other shifts and Team Leads regarding quality, workload capacity, safety, staffing and machine or component problems.· Keep management abreast of daily progress, developments and pending problems.· Develop and recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product while operating within assigned budget.· Meet and comply with all safety regulations and guidelines.· Participate in the selection, training, and corrective action of employees within the machining department.· Encourage an environment based on teamwork and continuous improvement.· Drive continuous improvement within the workforce through mentoring and coaching.· Record and maintain labor, time, quality and production records. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: · Minimum 5 years experience supervising in a job shop environment, machining large pieces.· Minimum 5 years hands-on experience as a machinist.· Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.· Team-oriented workplace experience. · Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, etc.· Minimum education: High School Diploma or equivalent. The company is located about 20 miles southwest of metro Houston.
