Machining Team Lead

We are currently looking to add a qualified Machining Team Lead to our team in Buchanan, MI.  This position will coordinate and supervise the work of team members involved in the machining area.  This position communicates job requirements and information to all members of their team.  The successful candidate will have knowledge of manufacturing processes and products, company policies, and team procedures.  They will be able to setup machines, perform in-process inspection of machine parts, and provide secondary operations as required. This position will include operating, setting up, and programming CNC machines.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Coordinate work assignments for the machining area to include:  CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, Vertical Mills

· Coaches and develops associates.  Recommends and initiates disciplinary action with the assistance and approval of the Manufacturing Superintendent.  Provide personnel input for department

· Assists with performance reviews with the assistance and approval of the Manufacturing Superintendent

· Serves as a resource to other areas/teams in the resolution of complex problems and issues

· Review all work order routings for correctness and tooling requirements for each job

· Program and create job set-up sheets for machine operators.  Create and maintain job schedules across machines to ensure quality and on time deliveries in an efficient manner

· Develop “new” job set-ups, improve current set-ups and cycle times and develop fixtures.

· Responsible for orientation, training, and motivation of machine operators

· Manage Tool Crib to standardize tooling where possible, maintain tool inventory and track/evaluate tool usage

· Perform 1st piece inspections and operate CMM when needed

· Maintain accurate departmental records for production, inventory, cost, and quality.  Enforce Company policies, procedures, and work rules.  Assist in identifying and enforcing safety requirements

· Perform mechanical troubleshooting and repair

· Operate and set up CNC Machining Centers

· Operate SAP System

o  Issue Pick Slips

o  Receive Work Orders

· Continuously improve, process and deliver conforming quality products and services to internal/external customers per the BRL Quality System

· Participate in meetings and training as required

 

The successful candidate for this position will require High School  or GED equivalent, six or more years of experience in machining area or a combination of experience and education and supervisory or team lead experience.  This position requires specialized knowledge of the following:

 

· Mazatrol programming and G-Code experience

· Ability to read blue prints and knowledge of geometric tolerance

· Ability to use gages such as calipers, micrometers, depth mics, bore mics, etc.

· Basic computer skills
