Maintenance Electrician with Mechanical Skills

Position Summary:  Set up, install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot controls and equipment in a food processing facility.

 

Primary Duties:

§ Install and troubleshoot electrical systems both single and three phase power to 480 V.

§ Repair, maintain, and install machines, tools and equipment to ensure continuous production operations in the safest, most efficient manner.

§ Estimate requirements for completion of job assignments. Inspection of completed work for accuracy and thoroughness.  Maintain records of completed maintenance tasks.

§ Analyze and resolve Safety, Quality, and Productivity problems.

§ Requisition parts, tools, equipment, and supplies as needed.

§ Determine by regular inspections the repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns.  Participate in Preventative Maintenance activities.

§ Install and troubleshoot PLC systems.

 

Secondary Job Functions:

§ Plan, develop and implement new methods and procedures designed to improve operations.

§ Read and interpret technical and business documents such as operations and maintenance manuals, schematics, blueprints and Maintenance Department Standard Operating Procedures.

§ Install and troubleshoot PLC systems is a plus.

§ Keep maintenance shop organized.

§ Work with contractors, suppliers and outside contacts as needed.

§ Make recommendations concerning equipment; controls procedure modifications.

§ Assist in writing and revising Maintenance Department Standard Operating and Preventive Maintenance Procedures.

 

Qualifications:

§ High School Diploma or equivalent, together with three or more years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

§ Familiar with PLC’s, VFD’s and electrical troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment. Posses a combination of mechanical skills such as those performed in the function of a maintenance mechanic (Troubleshoot mechanical equipment; install equipment, motors, pumps etc; fabricator; and /or machinist).

§ Experience in an industrial or manufacturing maintenance environment is required, preferably in the Food Industry.

§ Packaging mechanic experience is desirable.

§ Skilled trade certification a plus.

§ Adaptability and flexibility.

§ Strong communication skills.

§ Can use Microsoft program packages (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
