Maintenance Technician
A&E Hand Tools, a business unit of A&E Incorporated and located in Racine, WI, is a designer and manufacturer of high quality hand tools servicing customer needs worldwide.
Founded in 1932 by the late Daniel M. Lang, this one-man operation has developed into a family of companies that design and manufacture specialty automotive/industrial hand tools for both private-brand customers and our own corporate brand trademarks (Kastar), diagnostic test equipment (Star Products), retaining ring pliers (Hi Tech) and distributes precision German-made tools (Hazet-NA) and Tool Control Solutions (closed cell foam). Supplying quality products to the professional mechanic or do-it-yourself marketplace continues to be the bloodline of the business.
A&E is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to serve two of its Racine business units, A&E Hand Tools and Eckmann Pressed Metal, a precision metal stamping operations specializing in deep-drawn stainless, custom spun and split metal pulleys and fast engineering prototypes. The position requries a candidate to possess all tools of the trade to maintain production and untility equipment through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, rebuilding and daily-routine checks of equipment and plant facilities.
Key responsibilites include, but are not limited to:Analyze, install, troubleshoot, repair, build, rebuild, replace parts, and maintain a wide variety of production machinery, equipment and physical building structures including ordinary electrical/electronic controls and circuits, piping and mechanical equipment or systemsPerform all maintenance and repairs on CNC, Vertical and Horizontal machining centers and manual-type machinesDevelop, manage, and maintain a Preventative Maintenance Schedule, performing and recording all maintenance work including oiling and greasing of equipmentProvide safe, clean and orderly work areaOperate fork lift and hoists
Required Experience and Education:2-5 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environmentThorough knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical operationsSkilled in safe operation of hand and power toolsAbility to effectively troubleshoot and solve complex technical and process problemsThorough knowledge of machine, stamping and casting operation; dies and componentsSkilled in reading and interpreting blueprints with testing and measurement skillsExcellent organizational skills with ability to project manage, multi-task, prioritize and meet multiple project deadlinesBasic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and ExcelCreative problem solver to assist with design generation and resolutionAbility to work independently and with a team
Physical Requirements:Ability to work in high places from ladder, lifts, etc.Ability to use proper body mechanics for bending, lifting, and carrying up to 40 pounds unassisted on a regular basis; greater weights with assistanceAbility to walk through plant, possibly 3-4 miles/shiftAbility to work standing 90% of the timeAbility to bend, lift, twist, turn, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb and work in tight spots and unusual positions for extended periods of timeAbility to work off-shifts
