DescriptionSummary: Responsible for assuring that all mechanical and electrical plant equipment is maintained and is in good operating condition, to minimize down time and facilitate smooth on-schedule quality production. Implements corporate preventive maintenance program in accordance with Corporate Vision, Mission and Core Values. Directs the effective and efficient utilization of resources and materials necessary to meet the Division Performance objectives.Job Description: •Supervise and establish priorities and schedule personnel for maintenance of all plan equipment, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic•Respond to breakdowns by determining problem and effect immediate repair•Establish and monitor preventive maintenance program•Responsible for physical building repair and maintenance including paving, fences and grounds•Work with vendors to assure proper inventory and quality•Maintain inventory of supplies and parts for maintenance repairs•Schedules and coordinates maintenance repairs and prioritizes jobs assigned in order to meet production requirements and other department needs•Perform installation of any equipment when necessary•Maintains machine shop capable of making mechanical, plumbing and electrical repairs to manufacturing and plant equipment.Required Skills•Possess the skills necessary to properly and professionally communicate with all levels of the workforce verbally, electronically and in writing•College degree or equivalent in training and work experience•Minimum of three years of press operator experience with the ability to demonstrate set-up and operational experience of on-line and off-line auxiliary equipment. Must also understand the characteristics and properties of ink and paper used in lithographic operations•Must possess basic computer skills and be able to demonstrate understanding of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the use of the Lotus Notes email system•Minimum of eight years experience in the operation of large format web offset presses. •Understand all aspects of the printing process from pre-press to finishing. •Two to three years in positions of supervisor or leadership roles. •Excellent planning and organizational skills. •Proven ability to work effectively with minimum of supervision. •Proven ability to lead and work well with other departments and customers. •Knowledge of printing theory and mechanical process and involved with press equipment operations is essential. •Prior experience operating Harris 900, 954 presses a plus. •Good intermediate math skillsAt Vertis, we provide our employees the opportunity to learn and grow within the organization while offering a comprehensive benefits program including medical, dental and vision plans, 401(k), basic life insurance and AD&D, vacation, paid holidays, and much more.
