Installation/Maintenance/Repair Relevant Work Experience: 5+ to 7 Years Career Level: Experienced (Non-Manager) Education Level: High School or equivalent Contact Information Reference Code: 1900 Job Description Maintencance Mechanic - 2nd Shift Job Responsibilities: Repair and maintenance of machinery and electrical components of the manufacturing   operation.  Personal safety and safety of others working in the area.  Good housekeeping in the     maintenance work area and proper use and care of tools.  Use all safety equipment provided by the Company.  Proper training and guidance of Trainees assigned as helpers.  Perform any other   incidental work assigned by the supervisor.   Physical & Mental Demands: Strength and endurance for applying squeezing, torquing, lifting or push/pulling force with     tools.  Sustained or repetitive horizontal reaching across a work surface beyond 12” from body and     vertically to full extension overhead.  Strength and endurance for bending, twisting, and for     maintaining posture while reaching, crouching or kneeling.  Strength and endurance for standing,     sitting, walking, kneeling, stooping, crouching and squatting.  Lifting and/or pulling up to 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder height.  Climbing step and/or extension ladders up to machinery while carrying 25 lbs.   Ability to work at heights from floor to ceiling.   General Duties: *   1 Understanding of hydraulics and the ability to troubleshoot from a print. 2.  Understanding of electricity, PLC ladder logic, and wiring. Understanding electronics such as sensors, transistors and associated components. 3.  Proficient in metal working skills to include welding, cutting, machining and fabrication. 4.  Capable of assisting in setup of new equipment. 5.  Good understanding of mechanical principals so repairs can be made to pumps, motors, drives, and general mechanical systems. 6.  General knowledge of building materials and their uses for repairs to building structure. 7.  General knowledge of plumbing and fittings so plumbing of air and water can be done on equipment and building. 8.  Good working knowledge of rigging practices and lifting devices such as hoists, jacks, slings (chain and nylon), and the ability to use this equipment to move machinery, set up and repair.       ESSENTIAL FUNCTION CODES (EFC)   The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that Essential Function Codes be assigned to each job duty which are used to determine whether or not a person is entitled to Long Term Disability, i.e. can perform these tasks.  Current EFC’s are as follows:   EFC-1. Reason position exists is to perform this function.   EFC-2. Amount of time spent on performing this job function. (State hours/time)   EFC-3. A limited number of employees are available to perform this function.   EFC-4. Function is highly specialized so that the person is hired for their expertise or ability to perform this function.   EFC-5. Serious consequences may result if function is not performed.   EFC-6. Present and past experience has shown this to be a critical function.     The term “essential function” means the fundamental job duties of the employment position the individual holds or desires to hold.  A job function may be considered essential for any of several reasons, including but not limited to the following:   A.  The function may be essential because the reason the position exists is to perform that function. B. The function may be essential because of the limited number of employees available among whom the performance of that job function can be distributed. C. The function may be highly specialized so that the employee in the position is hired for their expertise or ability to perform that particular function.   Evidence that may be considered in determining essential job functions:   A.  The employer’s judgment as to which functions are essential. B. Written job descriptions prepared before advertising or interviewing applicants for the job. C. The amount of time spent on the job performing the function (hours per day, days per week, etc). D. The consequences if the employee is not required to perform the function. E. The work experiences of past employees in the job. F.  The current work experience of employees in similar jobs.     Educational Requirements:  Highschool diploma or GED required.  AA degree preferred.   Additional Requirements:  Minimum 5 yrs progressive experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance filed.  Ability to demonstrate safe work practices and understanding of workplace safety requirements.  Good organizational and housekeeping skills.  Ability to demonstrate proper use, maintenance, and storage of tools and equipment.  Pentair is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
