POSITION SUMMARY:The Manager, Engineering and Maintenance provides timely and incisive analytical engineering and maintenance support to the Coated Management Team to achieve the strategic business objectives in operating profit, ROI, cash flow, and asset management. He/she uses knowledge of engineering, maintenance, distribution, quality control and industrial management, as well as business management, to successfully develop and lead a program in the effective allocation and tracking of technical resources. He/she conducts studies, provides technical guidance and technical services for other Saint-Gobain Abrasives manufacturing locations. The candidate works independently and brings to his/her superiors problems, which involve joint solutions with other areas of the business and higher level policy requirements. He/she meets regularly with the Plant Manager and reviews general progress against goals and objectives established mutually; however, he/she has the technical expertise to manage assigned functions on his/her own authority. He/she completes timely and accurate reports and follow-up on all required divisional and corporate information and communications. Based on knowledge of the company's short and long-term plans, the candidate recommends, implements, and directs strategic and technical capital expenditures, which will provide the greatest return on investment, including smooth start-ups, on time and on budget. As leader of the Stephenville Engineering and Maintenance Teams, he/she plans, directs, coordinates, and manages projects for the modernization of processes and products for Coated Abrasives conversions. He/she coordinates and directs the transfer of any conversion equipment to/from Stephenville and other Coated Abrasives facilities. He/she works to integrate technological changes and crewing concepts in conjunction with Stephenville site objectives. He/she directs the engineering and maintenance staff for the site, providing guidance to meet the market requirements in quality and service while reducing total throughput costs.The candidate directs the Plant Engineering and Maintenance functions to optimize the utilization of all assets and minimize operating costs.COMPETENCIES: This position requires a BS in an Engineering field. A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive management and/or manufacturing related experience is required.He/she should be able to rapidly access and assimilate manufacturing and conversion problems, as well as have the ability to achieve in-depth project planning execution. Excellent human relations skills are essential. Occasional travel is required.
