Manager, Production Planning & Inventory Control

This position will manage the production plan and inventory to plan/forecast levels for all product lines. Responsible for production and material planning to meet inventory goals and customer commitments. The individual will manage transaction processing to maintain a high level of inventory accuracy. Requires daily interface with Procurement, Sales, Production and Engineering to effectively manage the production schedule, engineering changes, inventory and consignment/Kanban programs.

 

Review Master Schedule and reschedule as required in order to meet shipment forecasts and manage inventory to planned levels. Communicate changes to Purchasing with sufficient lead-time to allow vendors to adjust.  Maintain and Report Accurate 3 month Forecast of Sales Volume and Workload to Management Team.  Establish Standard Work Procedures for Planners and Inventory Personnel.  Manage the processing of all inventory related transactions to maintain a high degree of accuracy in both current and historical inventory data.  Coordinate with Finance the scheduling, auditing and reconciliation of periodic physical inventories.  Recommend changes to inventory levels (i.e., minimum/maximum levels, reorder quantities, estimated annual usage, etc.) and review with Plant Manager. Develop the Material Plan and establish Item BOM Files for new products based on forecast.  Review inventory activity and make recommendations for obsolescence.  Supervise Production Planners to effectively achieve established business objectives.

 

Qualifications include a BA/BS degree and a minimum of 5+ years experience in Planning and Scheduling, Inventory Management and Production Operations.  Strong MRP systems experience (Epicor experience preferred). Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Access, Crystal report writing.  Supervisory experience with a successful track record in leadership and team building. Certification in APICS, CIPM or CPM highly desirable.  Strong orientation toward continuous improvement - Lean, Six Sigma, Value Stream.  Prior experience in a low volume/high mix engineered-to-order manufacturing environment.
