Manager, Research & Development

Manufacturer of Cosmetics/Personal Care Products seeks individual to join our staff in the position of Manager, Research & Development. Basic function of this position is to oversee and maintain all aspects of the R & D Lab. Candidate should have a minimum of 5-7 years in Research & Development in the cosmetics/personal care industry.

ResponsibilitiesOversee formulation of new and re-formulation of existing products based upon benchmark prototypes, product development profiles and pro active formulations of new product forms, textures and aesthetics through supervisory functions as well as bench work interaction.Ability to manage, motivate and train technical staff and interface with processing, planning and production team members.Supervise R & D and Lab QC staff to insure that all protocols and company policies and procedures are being adhered to. This is to include monitoring lab books, project work and stabilities, insure that pilot and first production batches are monitored and insure that formulas, specifications and standards are issued after approval.Oversee all functions of lab maintenance and monitor that bench areas are kept clean and organized and that all samples and retains are properly labeled and stored on a daily basis.Assign and monitor work assignments for all Lab personnel to insure maximum productivity.Oversee and insure the adherence to cGMP's (current Good Manufacturing Practices) and SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures).Provide ongoing recommendations for continuous improvements in practices and systems to improve performance and enhance efficiency and quality.

Education and TrainingBS or MS in Chemistry of Biochemical Engineering preferable with significant experience in Research & Development of cosmetics/personal care products.
