SUMMARY: This role’s primary responsibility is providing management, leadership and facilitation of the Training & Development department through the development of team cohesiveness and accountability, creation of professional and productive communication channels, and overall understanding of the department’s role in the progressive future of all of Ariel Corporation’s business units.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
1. Provides leadership and management of the Training & Development department and its personnel through providing a progressive employee and customer strategic learning plan, facilitation of the plan to sound outcomes, and ensuring alignment of the plan to the overall Human Resource strategy for the Company. Disciplines included in this charter are organizational development, employee technical training, customer service school training, leadership development and soft-skills development.
2. Manages, facilitates and participates in the creation of an overall cohesiveness of the Training and Development team in order to increase productivity by creating a sense of urgency and buy-in regarding the overall “team” concept; bringing regulation and control to the operations end of all T&D initiatives and direct activities at a very detailed and individual task level. In addition, creating win/win solutions through innovative and direct conflict resolution development and techniques; and setting and meeting specific performance goals and timelines while ensuring accountability to those involved.
3. Manages, facilitates and/or participates in the design and development of training programs based on both the organization and the individual’s needs. This includes managing the costs of planned programs and keeping within budgets; assessing the return on investment of any training or development programs; establishing, maintaining and growing relationships with academic and private training providers; and obtaining grant money through various sources for these training initiatives.
4. Manages the relevance of all training and development programs in conjunction with the organization’s overall Human Resource and Training strategies. This includes leading the training team in ensuring that all programs and their delivery are relevant to the organization’s objectives and intervening when changes are needed in a proactive manner.
5. Manages and/or participates in the continuous improvement of the training & development programs including conducting appraisals of the programs based on established competency models, monitoring and reviewing the progress of trainees by using questionnaires and through discussions with managers; and amending and revising training programs as necessary in order to adapt to the changes that occur in the organization’s work environment.
6. Leads the identification of current and future training and development needs within the organization through job analysis, performance evaluation outcomes, changes in business requirements and regular consultations with business managers and teams. All training needs will be identified in terms of required competencies for successful job performance.
7. Proactively and regularly benchmarks other companies and educational providers to maintain a current state of the Training & Development industry and to ensure best practices are being identified and brought into the department’s strategy and specific programs.
8. Creates Training & Development reporting metrics or scorecard for the department’s key areas of responsibility and sends monthly reports of progress and plan of upcoming efforts to supervisor and team members.
9. Proactively, positively, and constructively support the Ariel vision, mission and quality statements, and the general company direction at all times.
10. Acts as a role model in carrying out job duties assigned within this position. This includes ethical management, strong work ethic, solid communications, creative problem solving, and a focus on getting results.
11. Other duties as assigned.

Ø Indirect for students working within training & development classes, labs or activities.
QUALIFICATIONS: In order to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with a positive attitude. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Ø Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in Organizational Development, Human Resource Development, Operations Leadership or related field (Master’s Degree preferred).
Ø 7 to 10 years progressive technical training experience preferably in a supervisory role.
Ø Demonstrated strong performance management skills in order to ensure team & individual accountability to department and individual goals.
Ø Demonstrated experience in strong department leadership role.
Ø Demonstrated strong conflict resolution skills.
Ø Demonstrated facilitation skills with the ability to bring team to a consensus.
Ø Experience in the development and delivery of computer-based training, leadership development and team training programs.
Ø Knowledge of Instructional Design Systems with a minimum of 1 year hands-on experience in curriculum development preferred.
Ø Demonstrated proficiency with all Microsoft Office Suite applications and knowledge of tracking training outcomes in HRIS.
Ø Excellent written, verbal, presentation and instruction skills.
Ø Strong project management skills.
