MANUFACTURING ENGINEER- Paint Specialist

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

 

1.  Must be a change agent with the capability of strategic planning and leading on-going continuous improvement initiatives. 

2.  Evaluate existing manufacturing systems and develop new systems as required to optimize production methods and efficiencies, machine utilization, capacity, material flow, worker safety, and product quality. 

3.  Provides guidance as needed to engineering and supervision regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

4.  Implement new product introductions in the manufacturing process.

5.  Inspects and audits performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure optimum utilization and product quality.

6.  Develop, write, and direct machine and tool specifications and implement.

7.  Develop and implement standard work practices.

8.  Act as a team leader for cross-functional teams concerning continuous improvement or corrective actions. 

9.  Responsible for coordinating activities between engineering, supervision, production associates, and the customer. 

10.  Train production associates.

11.  Will be responsible for the management and implementation of multiple tasks and projects and preparing project plans.

12.  Perform variety of tasks as directed.

13.  Responsible to ensure safety requirements are followed.

14.  Responsible to report to management on productivity and quality goals. 

15.  Provide technical support to all shifts as needed.

16.  Responsible for preventive maintenance planning of paint equipment.

17.  Responsible for set-up instructions and chemical recipes for automated paint booth and works with paint suppliers in recipe development.

18.  Responsible for written procedures for operation of paint booth equipment and process flow.

19.  Coordinates the development of new jobs paint jigs.

20.  Responsible to ensure safety and EPA requirements are followed in the planning and layout stages of new product as it applies to paint operations.

21.  Responsible to monitor capacity of paint department and report on it to management.

22.  Develop cap-ex requirements and implement improvement projects.

23.  Monitor paints viscosity and airflow. Apply counter measures when needed.Requirements & Qualifications

·  Four year degree required (or equivalent engineering experience).  Engineering or technical degree preferred. 

·  Automotive experience and knowledge of Toyota Production System preferred. 

·  Must have a minimum of three years of engineering experience.

·  Must have a minimum of one year of hands-on continuous improvement / manufacturing engineering experience.

·  Must be available for travel as needed and to work different shifts.

·  Must have strong PC skills (Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel – Charts & Tracking data, PowerPoint, drafting software such as CAD or VISIO).

·  Must have strong interpersonal, presentation, team building, project management, and communication skills.

·  Knowledge of paint application with plastic.
