Manufacturing Engineer – Kenyon, MN

Doherty Career Solutions has partnered with a manufacturer of customized wood seating solutions in search of a Manufacturing Engineer to work in their Kenyon, MN facility. The Manufacturing Engineer will support Production Supervisors by establishing and improving production processes, determine material requirements for product applications, and manage documentation requirements for the unit.

Responsibilities:

1.       Establish a lean vision for processes, set SQDC improvement goals, and take proper action to achieve these goals.

2.       Monitor SQDC measurements to identify and implement improvements.

3.       Eliminate production abnormalities by taking immediate stop-gap measures, employing required support groups, recording critical data, and driving root-cause identification and elimination.

4.       Drive standard operations by participating in their creation, auditing their use, and implementing improvements to standard operations daily.

5.       Develop processes improvements for the procurement, storage, machining, and assembly of wood materials.

6.       Assess the properties of the wood material used, so that the proper materials, processes, and controls are used throughout production.

7.       Play a key role in the product development process, and serve as the technical expert for wood as a raw material.

8.       Manage documentation such as maintaining accurate BOMs and routings, reviewing engineering change requests, and initiating ECOs.

Requirements:

1.       BS in Engineering or a related technical field is required.

2.       2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment is required, preferably in a facility working with wood materials.

3.       Must possess familiarity with a wide variety of wood materials, including a basic education in wood science, and detailed knowledge of processes including grade selection, kiln drying, rough mill operations, cutting, routing, gluing, and CNC processing/programming.

4.       Experience in implementing Lean/Toyota Production System principles to improve an operation’s Safety/5S, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC).

5.       Must be knowledgeable in Kaizen methodology and have experience as an active participant and leader of Kaizen teams.
