Summary
The Manufacturing Manager, Wire & Cable is responsible for the direction and coordination of production activities in processing materials or manufacturing products through subordinate team leaders, facilitators, and operations team. Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesReview production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specification of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operationsPlan production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing productsPrepare operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specificationsReview production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delaysInspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilizationPerform analysis of operations to determine capital investments needed for equipment purchase and upgradesDevelop or revise standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with standardsResolve worker problems Compile, store, and retrieve production dataAnalyze contractual commitments, customer specifications, design change and other data to plan and develop logistic program activities from conceptual stage through life cycle of productDevelop and implement program activities, coordinate efforts of planning, engineering, and production departments, and resolve problems to ensure meeting contractual commitmentsReview master production schedule and work ordersEstablish priority for specific customer ordersRevise schedule according to work order specification, establish priorities and availability or capability of workers, parts, materials and equipmentDistribute work orders to departments, denoting number, type and proposed completion date to units to produceConfer with department team leaders to determine progress of work and to provide information on changes on processing methods received from methods and engineering departmentCompile report concerning progress of work due to downtime and apprise production-planning personnel of production delaysUtilize process work instructions as needed to comply with customer requirementsEnsure job enrichment and job performance through the performance appraisal and disciplinary corrective actions process Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong leadership and managerial skillsHighly effective team leadership skillsAbility to perform and balance multiple tasksExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal Proficiency with Microsoft Office products Basic math skillsStrong attention to detailStrong organizational skillsAbility to review situations and make critical decisionsKnowledge of MRP systemsAbility to mentor and train others
Minimum RequirementsBachelors degree or higher required; focus in Engineering or Manufacturing preferredMinimum 5 years leadership experience in Wire & Cable.
