Manufacturing Plant Manager
Penco Products, Inc. is a privately held manufacturing company in search of a dynamic Plant Manager to lead the West Jordan, Utah, operations.
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated leader who is passionate about manufacturing and driven to transform a good operation into an excellent manufacturing operation.
This position will have responsibility for the overall operations of the facility in a manner that supports the company’s Safety, Quality, Efficiency, and Cost Objectives. Key attributes include superior leadership and managerial skills and the ability to instill teamwork, delegate effectively, and build collaborative relationships.
This position reports to the Vice President of Operations.
Duties entail responsibility for day-to-day operations including:
• Lead and motivate an organization that effectively manages increasing volume and new product introductions such that planned delivery, quality and cost targets are met with a high level of consistency
• Lead Lean initiatives to drive improvements and maximize employee contributions
• Develop, monitor and control production staffing needs to meet production deadlines and cost parameters
• Promote a working environment that encourages employees to achieve excellence in quality, productivity, and inventory management
• Provide leadership, mentoring and professional development support to the manufacturing organization
More specifically the Plant Manager will:
• Quickly develop a thorough understanding of the company’s business and manufacturing processes, products and operating philosophy
• Lead by example and have an exceptionally strong work ethic combined with a progressive approach to managing a manufacturing facility with high expectations and a low tolerance for anything less than world class
• Be part of the Leadership Team that will set the strategic direction for manufacturing operations and translate the strategy into specific tactical objectives
• Establish and implement specific performance objectives in safety, labor efficiencies, quality, productivity, On Time Delivery, scrap, etc.
• Implement strategies for plant capacity optimization and overall operating efficiency.
• Implement operational methodologies that add value and bring the company up to “world class” manufacturing levels, resulting in greater productivity, quality and team performance
• Take plant operations to the “next level” of development and performance by building and leading a high-performance team. Including the selection and recruitment, as necessary, of internal and external talent to inject know-how and experience into the manufacturing operation
• Provide leadership to build alliances within internal departments such as production management, finance, and engineering and sister divisions/corporate
• Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and complying with all state and federal health regulation as well as company safety policies and procedures
• Provide timely and accurate communications to the VP of Operations
Requirements:
In addition to those attributes noted above, the ideal candidate will possess:
Bachelors degree in a related technical or management discipline and a minimum of 10 yrs experience in operations and manufacturing management; experience in a medium to large sized assembly/fabrication manufacturing environment is preferred
Expert level skills in progressive management tools; LEAN, 6-sigma, TQM, SPC, etc (LEAN experience mandatory)
Experience with materials management processes and systems (SAP, etc)
A background in organizations experiencing significant growth and expansion is desirable
Superior communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate with subordinates, peers, superiors, customers.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with strong strategic planning and budgeting skills
Must have strong organizational skills, with superior attention to detail and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and objectives.
Penco Products offers a competitive annual salary of $100-110,000 plus bonus potential, comprehensive health and welfare benefits as well as 401(k). Relocation may be offered to the ideal candidate.
