Join "The Easiest Company to do Business With!" The key duties to be performed are: Marketing & Market Analysis US & Canada:- Coordinate customer projects with the international team at Merck (quotations, bid packages, sample requests, cost calculations, etc.).- Support Pharma RM Business Director and the LSS & (as appropriate) the Lab Chemicals sales organizations with background information on key customers, emerging companies, technologies, etc.- Analyze customer and market requirements to provide guidance to global Marketing at MDA on product and service offering required to grow the NA business (importance of technologies, service offering, regulatory support,...) and on potential market barriers (local manufacturing, cost structure,...).- Perform competitive analysis and monitor competitor activities.- Develop and maintain customer mailing database within EMD’s CRM system- Coordinate implementation of the annual Marketing plan with MDA, as directed by Pharma RM Business Director - In cooperation with the Merck business unit, develop product/technical literature that meets the needs of the NA market (e.g., uses NA metrics, EMD contact information, US English, etc.) - Development and execution of product introduction/cancellation plans. - Creation/maintenance of sales performance reports out of SAP / BW; regular updates to sales force..- Develop Marketing Materials (brochures, advertisements, standard presentations, trade show materials, etc.) Product Management:- Maintain the Pharma raw Materials product range to meet the requirements of the North American market and the goals of the LSS Division globally. - Initiate SAP part additions/deletions, monitor part costs, administer part maintenance (e.g. Merck Hierarchy and Reporting structure, etc.- Create forecasts for established items (stock and indent business); maintain Demand Solutions forecasting information based on sales input. - Establish and monitor sample inventory.- Work closely with Product Management at Merck to stay current on all production-related matters for Pharma Raw Materials -Compile annual sales/GP plan based on input from sales organization.-Compile and maintain distribution price lists.- Ensure agreed-upon transfer prices are communicated within EMD and Merck and are consistently implemented into SAP.- Expedite as necessary supplier (Merck KGaA) orders and customer orders to ensure smooth and on-time supply.-Monitor the supply chain MDA -> EMD -> customer; trouble-shooting within EMD and with Merck to rapidly address problems together with appropriate internal Depts.- Manage product complaints for Pharma Raw Materials.- Develop SOPs relevant to the position, reflecting the needs of the Pharma Raw Materials businesses' work processes. The encumbant of this position is expected to act as part of a global team while at the same time help build the optimum local infrastructure to accommodate a project-driven key account business. The position is expected to provide relief to the sales organization on day-to-day project and business management as well as the generation of account information, and create better market transparency for the global marketing team. This position requires excellent communication skills, initiative, occasional travel within North America and to Europe, and the willingness to work in an environment where further and new tasks will emerge as the business continues to grow. Must have:BS in a life science discipline (ideally Chemistry or Bio / Pharmaceutical Science -Minimum 5 years experience in Life Science, Bio / Pharmaceutical or Nutrition industry)Superior people skills and the ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with people at all levels of the organization - both internal and externalExcellent communication skills; fluent in English (verbally and written)Superior analytical modeling skills in order to build sophisticated cost, pricing, and forecasting models in order to maximize business group profitability for pricing and planning purposesThe ability to think strategically and understand the 'big picture', yet at the same time operate tactically with high attention to detail.Ability to operate as part of a global or cross-divisional team and also to work autonomouslyThe willingness and ability to work to targets and deadlines and get things done to achieve them.High degree of customer orientation and flexibility; pro active attitude; wwillingness to cause and implement changes.High level of computer skills (MS Office, SAP, Lotus Notes or alike) EMD offers competitive salaries and excellent benefits.
