Materials Engineer

C&D TECHNOLOGIES, INC. is a publicly held, global, high-tech manufacturer of power conversion and storage systems. We currently have an opening for a Materials Engineer in our corporate office in Blue Bell, PA.

 

 

The position of Materials Engineer II reports to the Director of New Technology.  Plans and performs engineering assignments associated with materials selection, evaluation, and testing.  Independently applies materials engineering techniques, procedures and analytical methods in making recommendations on material related issues to assure that the technical goals of C&D Technologies are met.

 

Responsibilities:Individual will be responsible for all aspects of material evaluation from selection, through full scale evaluation in manufacturing facilities and final documentation. 

 Evaluate and test new and existing materials and recommend material or process changes as needed for new product development, process improvement, or improved reliability. 

 Provide technical support through troubleshooting and failure analysis of material issues and related processes that are not meeting requirements and participate in the development of action plans to prevent recurrence of non-conformances.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

·  Familiar with numerous materials testing techniques

·  Knowledge of Six Sigma methodology and DOE

·  Material processing knowledge

·  Analytical skills for troubleshooting

·  Technical writing skills, computer skills

·  Quality Principles
