Mechanical Design Technician

 

Gentex Corporation, an internationally recognized leader in the design and manufacture of sophisticated military life support systems, has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Design Technician.

 

The successful candidate must possess an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Design Technology or related discipline as well as a minimum of three years progressive experience in a mechanical design field.  Skills such as technical communication, interpersonal skills, mathematical understanding, and reasoning ability are highly desirable.

 

The Mechanical Design Technician will:

§ Apply the theory and principles of mechanical engineering to create and document designs of composite structures and electro-mechanical assemblies.

 

§ Create designs using CAD solid-modeling software under the technical direction of the engineering or design staff.

 

§ Develop mechanical design concepts utilizing solid-modeling software, preferably CATIA or Solidworks.

 

§ Perform design and tolerance analyses of mechanical assemblies.

 

§ Be responsible for creating, or support the creation of, detailed engineering drawings.

 

§ Work effectively with a technical environment while identifying and applying methods of information acquisition and utilization.

 

§ Read and interpret blue prints, flow diagrams, schematics, sketches, maps, and charts.

 

§ Demonstrate basic technical writing skills and draw graphic communications.

 

§ Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
