Mgr Manufacturing

Responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all plant production and production support activities. Function as primary leader of Bucyrus Production System (BPS) implementation in manufacturing. Provide leadership and project management capability to implement customer focused processes and product improvements by identifying opportunities for cost reduction, lead-time reduction, inventory reduction and quality improvement while improving employee safety.

JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Develop performance standards and objectives for product flow through specific operations. Assure coordination of plant functions, responsibilities, budgetary performance, manpower utilization, skills, equipment and facilities.

2. Utilize proven BPS based analytical and troubleshooting/problem-solving abilities to identify opportunities to reduce costs, lead-time, and inventory, and improve quality and employee safety.

3. Provide strong leadership and project management skills to successfully implement manufacturing process improvements.

4. Lead implementation of BPS training and implementation of projects.

5. Establish project parameters, assemble and train teams, and lead the teams through the improvement processes to ensure project objectives are met.

6. Develop, train, assist and advise supervisors and administer company policies and procedures knowledgeably. .

7. Assist in planning and determining manpower requirements based on corporate goals and objectives.

8. Implement and document improvements to manufacturing efficiencies, takt time, floor space utilization and overhead.

9. Evaluate existing machinery and processes to recommend improvements that enhance both operator performance and ergonomics/safety of overall operation.

10. Ensure the appropriate administration of routings, rating in support of standard cost and production efficiency measures. Maintain control of inventory and inventory transaction accuracy through use of ERP system.

TYPE AND LENGTH OF EXPERIENCE

Prefer Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology and a minimum of 10 years experience in Toyota Production System/lean manufacturing concepts such as kaizen, value stream mapping, Kanban, demand flow technology and Six Sigma to develop improvements to manufacturing operations.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

Must have strong project management skills and expertise in training teams that include employees in various analysis tools, directing changes to manufacturing processes, improving material flow, and optimizing department layouts. Also requires working knowledge of manufacturing (fabrication, welding, machining, assembly) industrial engineering, and budgets including cost control and quality.
