Mold Maker - Apprentice

Interface Associates is an 11 year old, fast-growth medical machine and contract manufacturing company that provides solutions for catheter manufacturing.  Products include balloon forming machines, catheter assembly and test equipment, balloon development, and balloon contract manufacturing.  Plants are located in Laguna Niguel and Aliso Viejo, CA.  Significant profitable growth and recent cash infusion from investment partners, positions the company to go to the next level of performance.

 

Summary

 

Seeking full-time Mold Maker Apprentice to work closely with Mold Maker Machinist(s) to set-up and controls operations of single or multiple production machines for the process of manufacturing components and molds.  Apprentice will use lathes, mills, grinders, hones, EDM’s, drills and saws.

 

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

 

- Apprentice will be paired with Mold Maker/Machinists.

- Acquire Skill and Knowledge to finish custom mold centers and end plugs, including; finishing  techniques, rework polishing, cut precision cone angles and counter bores.

- Pull work order packages together, pull components & stage at hole popper.

- Assist in the scheduling and purchasing of component blanks and other materials.

- Assist in establishing min/max inventory levels.

- Run parts through hole popper and move orders to wire EDM.

- Enter production times on shop travelers and management reports.

- Communicate finished part status between Quality control and Mold Makers.

- Support daily requirements of machinist, i.e. tools, and sand paper, etc.

- Engrave balloon size, part number and revision on mold or end plug.

- Clean finishing lathes at end of shift.

 

Education and Requirements

 

- High School diploma or general education degree (GED); preferred certification from technical college or program; one to six months' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

- Ability to operate manual and semi-automatic shop tools and machines, basic shop equipment such as; mill and lathe.

- MUST know how to use micrometers and calipers, have the ability to measure in 0.0001 (ten thousands of an inch).

- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
