NPD Engineer

North Safety Products has an immediate opening for an Engineer working in the New Product Development (NPD) group, based in Cranston, Rhode Island.

 

The product development effort is critical to North Safety Products’ plans to grow the company.  The successful candidate is responsible for designing innovative new products and improving existing product lines, as well as working with engineering, quality assurance, marketing, sales, and manufacturing.

 

 

Some of the major essential functions of this position are: Generate creative and innovative product design concepts.Perform and direct activities such as prototype fabrication, research experiments, regulatory testing, mechanical drawing, mathematical modeling, and graphics presentation.Establish and maintain product standards for the manufacture of quality products.Enhance manufacturing efficiency by using sound engineering practices and written product documentation.



 

Required Knowledge/Experience:Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.7+ years experience in product design and development.Advanced knowledge and experience with three-dimensional CAD modeling and nonlinear stress analysis.  Solid Works and Cosmos experience preferred.Expert knowledge in plastic parts.Experience working within ISO 9000.Advanced PC skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project Management.Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
