National Sales Manager
Position Summary:
Plans and implements organization-wide and product specific national sales programs. Coordinates development of sales objectives, strategies, advertising and promotional programs and ensures their execution. Gathers new product ideas and evaluates their potential. Provides management with information used to investigate operations and local conditions.
Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinate headquarters contact with national buying groups.Develop and direct cooperative advertising, trade incentive programs and trade show participation. Direct the experimentation processes and activities prior to rollout to field sales force, addressing issues such as custom product configuration, merchandising concepts, in-store service testing, etc. Direct sales effort on major new product line rollouts to national account customers and assist in programs and development with targeted classes of trade through field sales force. Recommend the integration needs of the field sales force to ensure a team approach to service national accounts. Directly supervise and plan the ongoing development of a professional staff and their individual class of trade expertise.Participate on cross-functional teams with Product Management, Merchandising, MIS, Customer Service, Manufacturing, and Distribution. Engineering and Field Sales management for the continuous, on-going improvement of present products, and the development of new products, marketing programs, merchandising, distribution, changes, etc. Monitor business trends, distribution patterns, trade and customer attitudes, competitive practices, product performance characteristics, etc. to ensure the success of branded and private label products forecasting with high-volume national accounts. Develop and implement sales programs acceptable to those national accounts and their specific classes of trade with the objective of developing partnerships, increasing retail penetration and shelf presence with the Company’s products and future acquisitions. Develop and implement tactical operating plans and budgets to support the Company’s strategic initiatives. Update and improve the “retail focus” presentation for Master Lock products. Manage the relationship of national advertising plans and program development of the hardware buying groups, to include continual custom product development, program development and merchandising to ensure profitable growth. Coordinate test marketing with Marketing and Product Management. Develop the Incentive Rebate Program for the Company, ensuring equity for the Co-op / Hardware Wholesale channel and all other qualifying distributors. Develop key contacts with national accounts to ensure understanding of their organization and prompt response to their needs. Provide professional guidance for Company’s product categories for leveraging Master Lock future acquisitions, for maximum involvement in customer’s new ventures and to ensure “value added” customer satisfaction.
Price: Assess marketplace information with regards to competition and retail factors that have an effect on price, while considering the strategic goals of Master Lock Utilize research to validate price positioning relative to existing and new products. Manage exception issues with coordination through the Pricing Manager.
Promotion: Identify merchandising requirements for the specific consumer product segment and retail channels. Assist in the development of merchandising tools required accordingly. Develop promotional strategies appropriate to the consumer and channel(s) of trade within the consumer segment identified.
Place: Responsible for identifying the appropriate distribution channels, and key retailers in each, as applicable to the consumer segment. Develop, with Sales Management, the selling structure required which will allow Master Lock to take full advantage of the market opportunities that exist. Interface with Sales Management and key customers within the targeted channels of distribution. Requirements:
Preferred Qualifications:Bachelors Degree required; MBA preferred A minimum of five years previous experience in field sales and marketing with consumer products is required. Experience should include the development and implementation of merchandising programs with aftermarket automotive accessories. Experience with aftermarket vehicle electronics (ie: stereos, alarms) a plus Regular travel is required.
