Located at our Corporate office in Milwaukee, WI, Johnson Controls has a challenging opportunity for an individual to ensure the operational integrity and high availability of the global enterprise WAN, backbone, and the corporate LAN. Provides leadership in proactive network management support / problem analysis for the enterprise WAN and corporate LAN. Provides configuration, implementation, and problem analysis support for network protocols (TCP/IP, IPSec, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, etc.), routers (Cisco IOS), firewalls (PIX/ASA), content switches, LAN infrastructure wiring, switches (Cisco IOS), and communication facilities (SONET, MPLS, Frame Relay, ISDN, T1, T3). Works with the business units on a global basis to provide the implementation of network strategies, performance improvements, optimization, and problem analysis. Participates in developing and designing global network strategies, network policies, standards, and procedures.
Provide problem analysis for copper/fiber infrastructure wiring, Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and content switches. Provide problem analysis and design support for TCP/IP, IPSec, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, etc .Provide support and network project leadership/management in the areas of network equipment installation/configuration, infrastructure wiring, LAN /WAN design implementation, network management, and router configuration support for the Corporate group and business units on a global basis. Maintain a current understanding of all current and emerging network technologies, open system standards, SNMP device management, network management technologies, Windows, and Unix operating systems as they relate to the support of the network. Develop, maintain, and implement network policies, standards, procedures, documentation, and guidelines for the corporation on a global basis. Provide on-call technical support through independent action for global, enterprise WAN, and corporate LAN network management and problem analysis / resolution. Provide Unix script development, data collection, and SNMP / RMON support for network management, optimization, tuning, measurement, and network monitoring automation. Provide business unit consulting services in the areas of router configuration, network management, LAN design and implementation, network performance / capacity measurements, infrastructure wiring / switch implementation, protocol implementation / problem analysis, and communication facility support and problem analysis. Provide implementation support and problem analysis for communication facilities such as SONET, MPLS, Frame Relay, T1, T3, ATM, and ISDN. Participate in the design and implementation of global JCI communication networks. Adhere to all current changes and problem management policies and procedures.
We are seeking a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in computer science, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 3-5 years progressively responsible experience in the telecommunications / network management, implementation, and network design, with 2 years supporting Unix environment.
Sepcialized Skill Requirements include:
Understanding of Windows and Unix network operating systems.
TCP/IP network design/implementation and support.
Ethernet network design/implementation and support.
Frame Relay network design implementation and support.
MPLS network design implementation and support.
ISDN network design implementation and support.
T1, T3 and SONET network facilities.
Ability to relate design ideas through detailed network diagrams (Visio).
LAN/WAN QoS (DSCP, CBWFQ, etc.)
SNMP device management experience.
Experience with Cisco Netflow/SLA is a plus.
HP Openview NNM systems administration and support.
Unix system administration and support.
Network security implementation and support.
International/global network implementation and support.
Remote LAN access implementation and support.
Significant experience and technical skills to include:
Router configuration, support, and problem analysis (Cisco).
Ethernet switches (Cisco).
Modems, CSU/DSU, and MUX units.
Protocol problem analysis.
Operation of network test equipment and analyzation software to include (Wireshark/Ethereal, Sniffer, and cable testers).
