Operations Leadership Trainee / SUPL951

Position Description:

Supply Operations has openings for Operations Leadership Trainees.Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Develop management and supervisory skills through project work and on the job training.Assist in development of manufacturing, quality and food safety programs.Ensure that the quality, product safety, plant sanitation, and regulatory standards are consistently met.Troubleshoot and solve quality and operational problems at plant level using multiple tools including analytical testing and brainstorming. Present results to management team and act on observations.Actively participate in the plant’s process improvement platform and seek ways to improve all operating procedures. Strive for continuous improvement.Ensure adherence to Safeway policies, procedures and practices through monitoring and acting on observations.Maintain a high level of customer service.Ability to coach and lead work teams to achieve performance, quality, cost and service goals.Administrative duties related to production, shipping and quality performance.Cultivate a positive and innovative work environment.Successfully complete other duties as assigned.Qualifications: The following are preferred or desired unless specifically stated:Four year college degree in Food Science, Food Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Manufacturing or related field.1-2 years experience in a processing plant environment, preferred.Experience with SPC, HACCP, GMPs, sanitation and process controls.Experience with quality and food safety program development and compliance.Familiarity with regulatory requirements.Excellent oral and written communication skills.PC literate in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.Energetic, self-motivated, organized and proactive with excellent team skills.Able to cross boundaries and work at all levels to solve problems and get desired results.Willing to relocate, if needed, and work in different manufacturing environments.Ability to work in a temperature controlled environment.Ability to direct a diverse work force.Critical thinking, analytical and detail oriented, preferred.Willingness to work day shifts, night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
