Operations Manager/Industrial Engineer
Aerospace tool maker is seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer/Operations Manager who has a professional ambition to become Plant Manager for its Plantation, Florida operations. We are a leading manufacturer of precision machine tooling for industrial and aerospace applications around the world. The company has been in business since 1961, and has seen unprecedented growth in the last several years. As a result of this growth, we have identified the need to add to our senior management team.
Reporting to the President, the Industrial Engineer/Operations Manager will be responsible for managing the day to day shop floor activities and staff. The position will demonstrate leadership in decision making covering business operations, staff and processes. Specific responsibilities include coordination of production, training, scheduling, maintenance and engineering areas, as well as involvement in financial performance to include Sales and H/R decisions. Specific objectives include but are not limited to safety, training, quality, delivery, cost savings, capacity and lean systems implementation.
Candidates for this position should have a BS degree in engineering and 3-5 years plant operations management experience. Industrial Engineering and/or CNC machining background would support the requirements of the position. The candidate should be an independent thinker with the desire and ability to take on additional responsibilities into the future. Develops manufacturing organizational strategies by contributing manufacturing information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction; establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives.
Establishes manufacturing operational strategies by evaluating manufacturing trends; establishing critical measurements; determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies; designing manufacturing systems; accumulating resources; resolving problems; implementing change when necessary. Contributes to the development of manufacturing financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating manufacturing requirements, trends, and variances; aligning monetary resources; developing action plans; measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances. Delivers top quality products by enforcing quality standards. Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and assisting in the re-design of processes; implementing changes that result. Plans operations by collecting relevant information; identifying short-term and long-range issues; identifying and evaluating options; choosing a course of action. Avoids legal challenges by understanding current and proposed regulations; enforcing requirements; recommending new procedures. Accomplishes manufacturing and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
